Description
EMpower’s portfolio of grants that intentionally aim to support and strengthen girl-driven and / or girl-centered work.
This grant would be used to work with 150 very young adolescent out of school girls to continue to develop their numeracy and literacy skills and improve their advocacy on SGBV issues affecting them in their communities. We intend to continue to support the girls to improve upon their basic numeracy and skills in the 5 beneficiary communities in the Sagnarigu District.
Efforts would also be made under this current grant to oraganise refresher training for community facilitators who support and mentor the girls in their safe spaces to acquire additional skills including on advocacy, how to promote inclusion, assertiveness and safeguarding in order to deepen their facilitation skills. We also would continue to support much younger adolescent girls (10-12) years to re-enroll in primary school of their choice under the Ghana Education Re-entry Policy for girls.
Outcomes
- 150 girls have improved literacy and numeracy skills through non-formal education for their transition into NTL skill areas
- 150 girls have increased information and access to sexual and reproductive health rights
- 5 communities improve their recognition of gender equality and promote inclusion of girls from minority groups to undertake their advocacy programmes
